Happy new year. Here at APS we’re hitting the ground running with two announcements we’re excited to share with you.
First, today we’re calling for applications for the 2019 Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship.
Once again, the scholarship will provide a $5,000 award to one exemplary student from the Quad-Cities (Iowa/Illinois), where APS is located. Applications are due at noon May 1, 2019, and the recipient is expected to be announced in July 2019.
The scholarship was created in 2017 in memory of the late Thomas K. Evans, who founded American Power Systems, Inc. Tom was a brilliant engineer and a generous person. (And, we might as well mention, he could really play guitar. Check out his shredding abilities at the :31 mark!)
Complete information about the scholarship, including qualifications and directions for applying, is here: www.americanpowerinc.com/scholarship.
Also today, we’re launching a new internship program.
That’s right. APS has created a new Product Engineering Internship opportunity for summer 2019.The Product Engineering intern will put his or her educational experience to work in a real-world, niche manufacturing environment on a full-time basis this coming summer – right here with us!
Applicants must be pursuing a degree in an applicable field with a projected graduation date of 2020 or earlier and have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better.
This is a paid internship compensated in accordance with the benchmark identified by the National Authority for Colleges and Employers (NACE).
Program details, including a full list of qualifications and instructions for applying, is here: www.americanpowerinc.com/internship.
So, there you have it: a scholarship and a new internship. How’s that for starting 2019 with a bang?
