New STEM scholarship!

by Brandy Welvaert

Happy new year! We have some exciting news to share today.

APS is proud to announce that the company has founded a scholarship for local students planning to pursue education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Yes, a scholarship!

The Thomas K. Evans Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based, one-time gift for new college entrants pursuing education in STEM fields.

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage bright, creative young people to achieve and excel.

One scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded per year. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2018.

This new scholarship is near and dear to APS, and here are two reasons why:

One is that our business depends upon the innovation, creativity and knowledge of a team of tech-savvy folks. We want to help more students enter the STEM fields so that they can innovate and create, too.

We also wish to honor the memory of our late founder, Tom Evans, who passed away in 2014 following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Tom was a brilliant engineer and entrepreneur, but above all, he was a family man and a generous friend and mentor to everyone on his team. Now his memory will live on through this scholarship and the students it empowers, as well.
