Local AUSA chapter lends a hand

This Thanksgiving, APS is extending a heartfelt thank you to Rock Island Arsenal Chapter 5102, our local chapter of the Association for the United States Army (AUSA).

As part of its Day of Giving, Chapter 5102 will provide Thanksgiving meals to between 50 and 100 area army families, according to Kimberly Stumpf, Director of Membership for the chapter.

Locally, through the Day of Giving, these soldiers and their families will receive a free turkey from Schnuck’s Markets, as well as $100 in groceries, provided in part through donations from member businesses.

APS is a community partner of AUSA, and we proudly support the Day of Giving.

On Sunday, Nov. 18, selected local army families will shop at Schnuck’s Market in Bettendorf, where AUSA and United Service Organizations (USO) volunteers will be on hand at the checkout.

“This is one way we can give back," Stumpf says.

Day of Giving is a local initiative of the Rock Island AUSA Chapter 5102, which extends beyond the Quad-Cities to the border of Minnesota to the north, and to the edge of Missouri to the south.
