American Power Systems, Inc. (APS) is pleased to publish a new case study describing recent work on a special operations vehicle platform.
The case study, “28-Volt Power for Special Operations,” is being released ahead of 2018 SOFIC, the Special Forces Operations Industry Conference taking place May 21-24 in Tampa, Fla.
The case study describes the collaboration between APS and Polaris Industries, Defense Division, to upfit DAGOR®, an ultralight tactical vehicle used for special operations, with a secondary power system. The system includes a 28-volt, 185 Series high-output alternator; dual-alternator bracket; 28-volt external regulator; and high-idle controller.
DAGOR® is designed by Polaris Industries and manufactured by Roush Industries.
APS worked closely with Polaris on the 12-week project that brought DAGOR® on-site to APS company headquarters in Davenport, Iowa.
APS designed bracketry and a front-end accessory drive (FEAD) system capable of accepting the additional 28-volt alternator package. APS also designed a custom high-idle controller to help the vehicle meet extreme power requirements while stationary for long periods.
