DC-DC Step-Down Converters for Reliable Power Conversion

American Power Systems, Inc. (APS) DC-DC step-down converters deliver high-efficiency power conversion by reducing input voltage while increasing output current. Designed with a wide input range, these converters provide stable, regulated DC power across demanding applications.

By stepping 24V DC down to a regulated 12V DC output, APS converters allow operators to safely power sensitive equipment without compromising performance. This is especially critical in military, commercial vehicle and marine systems where consistent voltage regulation is required.

Compared to using a lower-voltage battery in series, APS step-down converters offer a more reliable and cost-effective solution. They draw evenly from the primary power source to maintain battery balance, support proper charging cycles and extend overall battery life—helping reduce maintenance needs and long-term equipment costs.

APS DC-DC Step-Down Converters and Power Solutions Overview

Clients use our down converters with transceivers, power amplifier kits, communication equipment racking in fixed installations, command posts, tactical operations centers, and communication vehicles, as well as boat and mobile power applications. They also are used for counter radio-controlled improvised explosive device electronic warfare (CREW). Many of these units have been designed specifically for government and commercial applications.

DC-DC Stepdown Converters Features and Key Benefits

High efficiency, switch-mode
Compact, waterproof design
Rugged construction
APS converters are switch-mode power supplies, which means that very little energy is dissipated as heat. Efficiency is commonly rated at 90 percent or greater.
Uniquely low-profile units are fully sealed to withstand pressure washing and protected against similar water ingress.
Units are built to withstand shock and vibration, as well as a wide operational temperature range. They are especially well suited for high-temperature, humid, foggy and dusty environments — all with no derate.
